irule behavior irule is matched but service is down

Hello, I have a question regarding a specific scenario. I have an irule for a pool of servers that checks a rest service for a specific return string. There is also few java processes running on each server.

 

Will traffic to specific service be still sent to a server (and hence dropped) if

 

a) the irule is satisfied for the server and b) the services on the server are down

    Hello, do you mean your irule is looking for traffic coming back from servers, or using sideband connection to test an alternate web service ?

     

    if backend server are down, and you monitor them, your VS will be down reseting client's traffic, thus not triggering irule and not going further to back end.
