Dec 10, 2004Identify changes to existing v4.5 code to migrate to v9 code..
I was told that there is a tool on devcentral in which we can paste our existing the SDK v4.5 code for BIGIP devices integration , and the tool will analyze and give the changes that are required to be made to be compatible for the new sdk version. Can anyone help?

Is there a migration doc available anywhere (i.e. the document that drives
the migration tool)? The tool is nice for small code, but rather painful
for the 2.5K lines of perl code I have... - Currently there is no working documentation regarding the migration tool. It was mainly meant as a code scanner to give a rough idea as to which methods you are using in your application and which ones changed so that you can scope out the work needed to convert the code to the newer interfaces. For a very large majority of our code, very minor changes were made (mainly to support bulk requests). There were some interfaces that were removed because they were no longer relevant to the underlying product.
What kind of information are you looking for?

I use a bunch of calls. I'd like to know for all of those calls,
what are the (if it has changed) new methods...
So, I don't really want to know how the tool works, I want to have
the underlying migration documentation. - Michel_van_der_

I guess I've gotten spoiled by the quick updates....
No update on where to find these docs?
I got some v9 eval equipment in my lab. I'd love to
configure it, but I'd like to have some sort of
migration doc before I start that work. - Michel_van_der_

if you'd rather not use the migration tool for this purpose, perhaps you can list all the interfaces and methods you're currently using, and we can provide you what the new interfaces and methods should be.
Guess I don't quite understand why you can't just provide me with the whole list?
The tool doesn't work particularly well for me, especially when using methods that appear in a lot of places (like e.g. get_list). Lot's of clicks to get at the info I need.
One way or the other it's going to be a pain to convert all that perl. But I dug that grave myself I guess... - Loc_Pham_101863Historic F5 AccountMichel,
If you're looking for a complete list of new interfaces and methods, then the new SDK v9.0 is what you're looking for, since every single interface and method is new in this release. Admitted, some methods might look unchanged from the 4.x counterparts, for example, the "get_list" method in most interfaces remain unchanged.
