Dec 18, 2007HTTP Response Chunking
I understand the different response chunking options for an HTTP profile. What is missing is a guideline as to why you would choose one option over the other.
I have used Rechunk in some cases where I was using a streams profile. But other than that, it is not clear to me what the advantages/disadvantages of each of the options are.
Also, in the stream case would an Unchunck option work as well?

This helps with understanding Chunking, but what it does not help with is guidance on setting Response Chunking in an http profile.
What are the implications for performance and application compatibility with each of the settings. I want to be able to answer the question of when, and why do I use Unchunk, Rechunk, Selective or Preserve. - Jose_Santiago_O

It would be great if someone could elaborate a little more on this.
I have had problems with mi apps when I have changed the response chunking from preserve to selective, especially on POST methods (servers running IIS 6.0) and compression.
I remember once I changed from preserve to selective, we received some complaints, just after changing this setting, so I had to stick to Preserve.

Great, that is exactly what I was looking for.
