You can do a search on iRule timing if you really wanted to see how many clock cycles it is using, but in general, the HSL is very performant.
I would need more details on what you mean by "substantially more traffic". I've seen HSL send 50,000 messages per second per cpu core that a platform had and use an extra 5-10% cpu.
Main questions. How cpu busy is your box now? What model device do you have? How much traffic is making your box that busy today?

jhanington_1353Thanks for taking some time to respond to my question. The most I've every seen the CPU was 25-30% usage. I have the 1600. We have a bunch of virtual IPs that experience light to moderate traffic but the virtual server that I want to run this iRule on has had a max of 416 connections - that might not be a lot for some people but I just have no idea.- I would agree, that is not a lot. Anecdotally, I would not be worried about the overhead of HSL with that type of traffic.
