How to recover from sol13116 interfaces unpopulated
I have a HA pair of Viriron's that have encountered this issue. All interfaces are reporting Unpopulated. I was doing an upgrade from 11.2.1 to 11.5.3 HF2. When the device came backup it was unable to join the cluster. Before starting the upgrade I set the device to offline in the cluster. after doing some investigation I found the interfaces offline. During my troubleshooting I attempted to rebuild the cluster by resetting the Device trust on each device in the cluster. Is there a way to force the F5 to recognize the interfaces again?

Per the solution article, forcing the unit back online should resolve the issue. If that isn't what you're seeing, then you're not experiencing SOL13116.
When you say cluster, are you referring to an HA pair with another viprion ? The word 'cluster' refers to a grouping of blades within a Viprion chassis, where one is primary, and the rest slave to it. A HA pair (or HA group) consists of two or more BigIP devices that operate in Active/Standby mode.
In other words, if you disable the cluster, then you're only affecting the ability of the blades in the chassis to work together as one. If you reset device trust, you're affecting the ability to perform a failover of a traffic-group from one BigIP to another.
Make sure that the cluster is up and running, and that all the blades show green under system / cluster (or 'tmsh show sys cluster' on the command line)

I figured it out, I was able to force device online again from being offline. This seems to be the root issue. Once I did that I was able to enable the physical interfaces again and bring up the cluster. I tried this once before but the online options was grey at the time. In my troubleshooting I did enable the cluster again even though it was enabled already.
