- Jan 21, 2009Self replying here as we determine the root cause. If your preferences are set to attempt to resolve hostnames and there is an issue with the DNS server config (server down, outdated, etc) then the loading of these pages becomes slow. In my case one of the DNS boxes had a problem and was the primary on the LTM which caused this problem.

Just as a quick side note: This comes up frequently in many different contexts - DNS issues / timeouts are a fairly common reason for slowdowns in various configurations. In general, if you find that things get crushingly slow, check DNS early for a potential easy fix... - The_BhattmanFeb 24, 2009

I had the same thing happened about many moons ago...not with just F5's but other systems that were configured to work with DNS. So it was decided that we should any device that aggregates connections or load balancing more then 1 application should resolve to itself. This way the impact is more contained in the future.
