How to delete a monitor that is in use
What is the best way to delete a monitor via the iControl API when the monitor is in use? I don't see a way to easily remove the monitor from whatever pool/pool members it's assigned to. If I just try to delete the monitor it throws an exception that it is in use. If I search through all the pools and their monitor assocations I can only delete all monitors from that pool, not a specific one.

You can't delete a monitor that's in use. You'll have to remove it from pools/members before it can be deleted.
