Jan 30, 2018How Serverside SSL works with no certificate
We are investigating implementation of serverside SSL. If I create the profile using all the defaults, will it work?
I understand that certs are about authentication as well as encryption but I need to know how SSL works between the F5 and the servers in the pool when we are not deploying a certificate. (using None which is the default) The most I can get is that the F5 acts as a client in this scenario. Can someone explain how this works?

The F5 acts as the clients for standard Server side SSL you do not need to assign a certificate.
If you were using Mutual Authentication or needed to provide a client certificate to your backend servers for some other reason then you would need to assign a certificate.
