Hi Andy,

 

Hopefully I can answer your questions to the best of my abilities. if you do place Microsoft in each datacenter behind the LTM you could run active-active. However, there is additional component you will want to consider which is GTM. The GTM will allow you to direct connections from a single domain to separate locations. If you have v10 you can further enhance it by using iSessions (Click here), which allows you to remotely connect 2 LTMs to share load balancing and fail over.
