Health check question

I have 1 server with 2 different instances (port 8080 and port 8081)

Each instance is being checked by 2 VIPs eg. (210.10.10.1 and 210.10.10.2).

Is this the correct way?

I thought that each instance should checked by 1 VIP (one to one mapping), am I correct?

Regards

  • Well for one they are not checked by the VIP's. They are checked by monitors on the pool. Each pool will check whatever services it uses irrespective of what the other VIP's and pool's are doing.

  • It depends on how they're being used. If both instances are part of the same application, and could be in the same pool, then a single health monitor applied to that pool will use the defined port for that pool member.
