HA recommended best practices

I would suggest building your logical topology on trunk(LACP) because it will cover port resiliency and also gives aggregated bandwidth, preferably to different switch stack members or VPC across multiple Nexus depends on your switching infrastructure.
HA config really depends on your fail over requirements but I would use non routable VLAN dedicated for config sync then use gateway fail safe to monitor very highly available IP target.
