HA Configuration with Multiple route doamins

Hi Team,

i am working on a design in which there are 2 LTM 3900 series which will be put in same datacenter as HA Pair.

The LTM's will be divided in 3 route domains to entertain seperate Application tarffic.

in this every route domain would have their own internal/external vlans.

i would like to know the Way to do active/standby configuration.

would that be achieved by using single HA VLAN or 3 seperate HA VLANS for each route domains. also if anybody could shed some light on how the traffic-groups play a role in HA configuration.

Thanks in Advance.

  • The state of your HA is determined by the link of your 3900 pair in the cluster, and not by your application traffic. You need to establish a link between the 3900s and configure the HA pair (System --> High Availability). There are more than one way to skin a cat on the topology implementation of F5. Some put them inline and use them as a gateway to your LB interfaces. I have mine in a "one-armed" bandit manner. I link them to a switch, and extend my VLANs to the interfaces, then tag them. On the F5, I create RIP on each unit for each VLAN.
