GTM & LTM must be on same VLAN to communicate

Is it true that both GTM & LTM must be on the same VLAN to communicate with each other?

    Even if they on the same physical devices or seperate devices they are not required to be on the same VLAN to communicate. As long as they care route to each other and the necessary ports are opened for them to talk to each other it will be fine.
