GTM- Load balancing methods & physical cabling

The load balancing methods used for the GTM/DNS to determine which VIP to hand the request to- such as RTT, Packet rate, etc (for Wide IP) Does the F5 need to be cabled to public facing internet? Or ...

GTM needs to have a public IP configured as "Listener". A client in the internet should be able to access the GTM Listener Public IP in order to resolve DNS queries. You can have the GTM behind switches/routers as long as you provide a way for the GTM to have a public IP as a listener. This listener IP can also be a private IP address as long as you have a public IP NAT for the private IP.
