Sep 02, 2010Force standby (and remain standby?)
All,
is there anyway to put a 9.x LTM which iss part of an active/standby pair to be standby and remain as standby? The reason for asking is I am moving a pair of LTM's in a staggered approach from one end of a data centre to the other. I have moved the stnadby LTM after disabling the interfaces & switching the config to use network fail over (~no problems seen after moving to network failover). However when I now enable the interfaces on the newly located standby LTM, I presume its causing LACP/spanning tree issues as the ports on the switch the active LTM go off and back online, the two devices breifly can then can't communicate with each other and I've ended up with both being active at the same time and have seen the LTM report an IP conflict.
Obviously I need to address the LACP/spanning tree issue, but I'd like to find a way to ensure the passive LTM remains in standby mode as even with the interfaces disabled on the standby device, hitting the "force to standby" button only puts it in to standby for a few seconds before it goes active again (as obviously it doesn't get any commuincation for the other LTM with the interfaces down).
thanks in advance for any pointers etc
Matt
