Force F5 active

I recent upgraded one of 8900 F5 to 11.6.0 HF4, before I upgrade the second 8900. I want test 11.6.0 HF4 on production, however when I upgrade the 8900 F5 to 11.6.0 it killed HA sync. How can I force the an online(standby) disconnected F5 to active?

  • Try forcing the currently ACTIVE node to STANDBY. Your 11.6.0 HF4 appliance would not report online STANDBY status if the HA was completely missing. However, you may have to reconfigure the HA later on, to get the synchronization working properly. To sum it up, I think you should be able to initiate a cluster failover - give it a try ;)

Sorry for the confusion, did not kill HA configs, it just lost its sync. I am just worried when I force production F5 offline and updated F5 does not go active. Is there a way putting production back to active.

It is not possible to force a standby unit active. When the active unit is forced to standby then the standby unit will go active in response.
