Firepass - F5 RDP error: could not resolve host name : /0.0.0.0

Hi,   I got this error when I tried to login to my remote desktop. I'm using a mac, the funny thing is, it sometimes work and sometimes not. I'm wondering if anyone can help?   Thanks, Cathy ...

Using java RDP? The (current) Java 1.7 on mac has a KNOWN bug that NEEDS to be able to resolve the FQDN of the Mac itself. It doesn't have to resolve correctly. It just has to be able to resolve (I'm not sure why they even bother, as the fact it doesn't need to be correct to work, proves that the resolution is never used in the first place).

 

The workaround is to add the FQDN as an alias to the loopback interface in /etc/hosts on the Mac client.

 

BTW the bug has been open for more than a year on the oracle bug reporter website... I won't be holding my breath for oracle to fix it at this rate

 

v1.7 (The old Apple Version) doesn't have the same issue.
