Finding out BIG-IP F5 processor type and speed
Hi All,
I am working on two BIG-IP LTMs. The versions are;
Customer F5 version: BIG-IP 10.2.4 Build 595.0 Hotfix HF3
Test F5 version: BIG-IP 11.3.0 Build 3131.0 Hotfix HF6.
They both have 2 CPUs and both are active. However while running at iRule the Test F5 reports about 1-2% CPU increase however the customer one goes up about 10%.
Is this because of the code version? Is v10 known for high CPU utilisation as compared to v11?
Secondly how can I find out the exact processor speed for both F5 LTMs?
However I just checked and Customer F5 is 1600 whereas the other one is 3600.

Hi,
information about processor you can find in
/var/log/dmesglooks like this output
CPU0: Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Duo CPU E6400 @ 2.13GHz stepping 0d - hoolio
Cirrostratus
There are some pretty big software changes between 10.2.x and 11.3.x. I'd suggest both you and the customer consider testing on the same version. 11.4.1 or 11.5.1 with the latest hotfix would be good releases to consider upgrading to.
Also, if you want to do iRule testing, you could use a BIG-IP VE. You can get a permanent lab VE license for $95. Or you could ask your local F5 SE for an evaluation key for it.
