F5 LTM - Need to move to new data center
Hi All, we're moving to a new data center. We have a 10Gb L2 low latency link between the two Data Centers. I have an F5 LTM pair that is currently using both serial and network heartbeat cable. My question is, is there a way to initially move only the standby unit to the new DC? We have the same L2 VLAN's at both locations, but I'm not clear on the necessity of the serial cable between units?
Thanks!

If you're using network failover then you should be able to disconnect the standby without any issues. I might be inclined to force offline the standby prior to disconnecting it so when u bring it up in the other DC it doesn't go straight to active if there are comms issues.
Re hardware (serial) failover then I believe f5 recommend this in addition to network failover. So when both bigips are in the same DC I'd reattach the cable.
Hope this helps,

out of curiosity, do you know if there are specific bandwidth/latency requirements for using the network failover between data centers? We have a L2 circuit in the same metro area with > 2ms latency so I think we'll be fine. I am also planning to create a dedicated vlan for the failover network between the Active and Standby unit. - h_paredes_19017

Have you completed the move to your new data center? Did the recommendation above work?
