F5 invoke a java component and a webservice

This is possible with a Sideband connection: https://devcentral.f5.com/wiki/iRules.sideband.ashx however I'd personally prefer to do something like this on a web server as I feel it would be more appropriate for the task. Java is not an option on the F5 whereas obviously it would be on a server.
