f5 GTM: Resolve to Internal or External address based on client
Hi there
We have a split dns domain, hosted on an internal only server and externally on a f5 GTM (internet facing).
Does anyone know if it would be possible for the GTM to return a different address based on the client (ip) making the request?
So depending on the IP address of the machine making the query I would like the GTM to return a different IP address.
Could this be achieved hypnotically using an iRule? if so then if anyone has an example that would be great.
Thanks in advance

You won't need an iRule for this. GTM leverages Topology rules to allow for responding in this fashion.
Configure your topology rules to direct all internal (controlled) ip subnets to the internal DNS, and fallback to the external for all others.

Greg gave you the Answer and to add it, there is a solution article from F5 for split DNS which is achievable using different methods which also includes topology based load balancing....
Here is the article:
Achieving split DNS behavior through BIG-IP GTM wide IPs
