F5 GTM Monitor Source Address
Hi
We have a F5 BIGIP running both LTM and GTM. GTM is on the common partition. We also have created several partitions and route domains for LTM to handle the routing of traffic to several firewalled VLANS. Basically a partition for each VLAN with a default route.
In GTM, to check the status of the LTM virtual servers in each partition we have added a Datacenter for each VLAN and also added each partitions self ip's as a bigIP redundant pair in the relevant datacentre.
The problem we have is when setting up a WideIP to monitor generic hosts, the GTM is picking a self IP from any of the BigIP redundant servers rather than it's own pairs.
Is there a way of restricting the monitoring in GTM to only come from specific BIGIP servers?
Hope that makes sense!
Thanks Kev

I'm not sure what versions you're running, but I think you're running into a default feature of GTM where it will try and use a BIG-IP "in the same datacenter" as the generic host you are probing. There's a function called "Prober Pool" which can be configured to be just your GTM's. This tells GTM to only use devices in the Prober Pool as monitors for generic hosts.
Look for Prober Pools Here. https://support.f5.com/kb/en-us/products/big-ip_gtm/manuals/product/gtm-concepts-11-3-0/4.html
