F5 Current Connections for a pool

I am new to the F5 load balancer. I am trying to check the current connections on a pool. I can see the pool and know there are connections there, but on the statistics page the current connections is all showing 0. Any idea what I am doing wrong? I am in the Local Traffic -> Pools and then the specific pool I am interested in.

  • Once you click on Pool --> Pool List ---> select specific pool ---> click on stats and you will see cur/max/total connections.

  • alternatively you can obtain the same information via CLI:

(tmos) show ltm pool detail Pool_xxx

  • I do that already and I can see the current/maximum/total and the current is always 0 even with refresh. I am wondering why it never seems to update.

  • are you sure there must be a connection at this moment? with for example http it is very possible the connection is already closed. do the max and total show a value?

  • The stanby LTM will show 0 connections, I assume your looking on the Active unit which should display those statistics.

  • I can see there is a count in the Maximum and Total connections but the current is always 0. I know there are over 500 users connected through to the application at this time.
  • Thanks I did find the answer, someone it seems switched over to the backup and left it live. I can see the connections now, thanks for the help. Is it a one to one relationship? I am looking at web site the is getting traffic, I can see over 450 people logged in but only see about 60 current connections in the F5.

a connection on the ltm isn't a session for a user or such. the ltm sees the http requests, which don't stay open very long usually on the client side.
