External DB Lookup

Hi there, just though I'd post this here, but I expect I know the answer..

 

We have serveral SpreadBetting customers, and with the recent legislation in the States, they are looking to block customers based on Geography. Now I am aware of an apache module that will provide this lookup, my question is, is there a method of doing this lookup from the BigIP, without involving the extra apache hop. Otherwise we'll have to pass every http request to the apache server, and do a lookup ( and header insert, to set a cookie ) before passing back to the Bigip for processing with an appropriate Irule..

    Although the GTM systems can perform topology based routing, iRules isn't currently able to access that portion of the GTM logic directly. If you have the GTM module installed, though, you should be able to make use of the whereis command, I believe. This should be able to give you the info you're looking for down to whichever granular level you specify, options are: continent country state city or isp
