NimbostratusDoes remote access on mssql have to be enabled for monitoring to work?
I have been using a third party application for monitoring of my mssql databases availability. The issue i am having is that in order for it to work i must enable remote access in order for the application to do its work. I would like to know if this is also needed with f5 mssql monitor.

The BigIP SQL monitors work by sending SQL queries to the pool members. If they're not listening for SQL connections from remote devices, then obviously those queries will not succeed.
Alternatively, you could use a different type of monitor, such as a ping, or tcp connection, but that wouldn't give you the same level of monitoring that an actual SQL query would provide.
