Different MAC addresses on the same device
Why does the MAC address start differently for devices of the same series?
Does it have anything to do with the behavior?
device#1(active) : f4:15:63
device#2(standby) : 0:94:a1
thank you !
Hi,
You can see a list of all the OUI mac addresses for F5 here .
Are the two units in the HA pair definitely the same hardware platforms? I would have expected the OUI to match between the two devices if this was the case, but I'm not sure if there is a hard rule for this. No, it shouldn't have anything to do with the behaviour of each device.
Yes, thank you
I checked that all of them are mac addresses of f5
I was having HA issues and was checking if that could be the cause of the problem.Thank you
Outside of you question you can always enable Configuring MAC masquerade (11.x - 17.x) . I am also interested why this is different as the only thing that came to mind is if you are on a vCMP quest vCMP guests running on different vCMP hosts are found to be using the same MAC address . I think the base mac is unique as if for some reason the auto generated mac addresses are the same because the base mac is the same this won't be good.
Regards,
