Device Certificate & HA
As per the F5 documentation, The BIG-IP system uses the device certificates for HTTPS connections to the Configuration utility and device-to-device communication processes. Does the device certificate have any role in HA

Based on "device to device" communication. HA creates a HA sync certificate, that uses the device to device communication(s). So..the answer is Yes.

It's a fairly common misunderstanding. The GUI SSL key and cert are different than the DSC key and cert. This article offers some additional information:
