Oct 23, 2009Delay on SNAT
Dears,
I used SNAT on a Virtual server , will be a delay or it is almost equal to inline (Routing Mode)? As theoretical NAT has delay. Will this delay affect the performance.

I wouldn't expect any noticeable latency when using SNAT. But you could test it with tcpdumps if you wanted to compare the time deltas with and without SNAT. If you do try this, can you reply with what you find? - DeVon_Jarvis

Other than the few microseconds it takes for traffic to pass through another device, there should be no added delay. The TCP or UDP traffic profile could make a difference, if you want to tune it.
