Dashboard statistics confusion
Hi,
I am having some difficulty in understanding the stats presented by the Dashboard. I hope this is the right group to be asking this in :)
We have a VIP, with a pool, and the pool has 4 nodes. I have setup a custom dashboard showing the current connections on
- the VIP
- the Pool the VIP uses
- the nodes in the pool.
What I expected to see was the current node connections accross all nodes roughly equal the current total connections to the pool which in turn would roughly equal the number of connections to the VIP. This is not what I am seeing. Here are some real stats
VIP: 800 current connections (max 984)
Pool: 60 current connections (round robin)
node-1: 28 connections
node-2: 20 connections
node-3: 24 connections
node-4: 20 connections
If I go to the LTM module and look at the stats for the same VIP, those stats show the current number of connections at 20. Are the dashboard stats cumulative? The graph being shown doesn't seem to imply that yet the figures vary so much. Are they not showing the same thing?
All I want to do is to generate some statistice to see how many connections we are gettings, our web team want to compare them against some of their own analytics (newrelic and some in house tools).
I'm just confused as to what the BigIP is showing me.
Thanks in advance,
Craig
