Creating CNAME Record similar to Zone name.

Hi All , I need a help and your insights to solve following issue in GTM Zone Runner.

 

DNS not allowed to create CNAME-record which is similar to any other existing record. Therefore , I cannot redirect traffic form a domain name which is exactly similar to zone name .

 

abc.nsw.gov.au is the domain name. nsw.gov.au is not hosted by us and we dont have authority to create a zone with nsw.gov.au. but we authorized to host abc.nsw.gov.a and registered for us.

 

People will access abc.nsw.gov.au and www.abc.nsw.gov.au and I need to redirect both to xyz.com( hosted outside of our network ).

 

Created a zone as follows Zone with abc.nsw.gov.au

 

abc.nsw.gov.au IN NS ns1 abc.nsw.gov.au IN NS ns2

 

1) abc.nsw.gov.au IN CNAME xyz.com 2) www.abc.nsw.gov.au IN CNAME xyz.com

 

I was able to create the 2nd record to redirect www.abc.nsw.gov.au to xyz.com. but , unable to redirect abc.nsw.gov.au( similar to zone name ) to xyz.com.

 

After going through some internet resources I understood that this is a common bug in DNS (http://www.rfc-editor.org/rfc/rfc1912.txt) ?? Is there any workaround within GTM to do that ??
