Clone Pool vs Interface Mirroring

 

Hi,

 

I was reading through Clone Pool and Interface Mirroring to send the copy of the traffic to some sniffer device such as IDS. I came across something called "Asymmetric Routing". As per the article https://support.f5.com/csp/article/K13392, Clone Pools are not compatible with asymmetric routing whereas Interface Mirroring. I know Asymmetric Routing but I couldn't understand with respect to Clone Pool and Interface Mirroring.

 

Can someone please explain Asymmetric routing feature with respect to Clone Pool and Interface Mirroring.

    i would assume the issue lies that with asymmetric routing (which i wouldn't call a feature, but often not an optimally designed network) traffic returns via different interface or not even via the BIG-IP.

     

    the clone people feature probably wants to see the full session via the same interfaces / virtual server.
