Choosing Instance type for F5
Hello,
I am trying to choose the right instance type for our virtual F5s ("Good" feature set). We're expecting up to 200mbits of traffic. It will be a mix of HTTP and HTTPS (terminated on F5). All will be routed to pools of about 20 servers in total. According to Amazon, all instances now have AES-NI.
Can you please help me understand: 1. what should be the instance we pick? My uneducated guess was "c3.2xlarge" 2. With annual licensing, is it possible to upgrade to 1gbps license if we need to?
Thank you, Michal Middleton

Michal, The best people to answer your question would be your account team. They have access to all of the information you would need for sizing your solution. You can contact your account team by going to https://f5.com/products/how-to-buy and filling out the form. Thank you.

as indicated in the documentation, it really depends, and sales would have the best answers for you. If I were to take a swag at your specified requirements, I'd say you'd be fine at the c3.large level for "good" feature set assuming most of your SSL is bulk encryption, but you'd want the c3.xlarge for "better" and the c3.2xlarge for "best" feature set. I reached out to sales to inquire on your licensing questions, I'll let you know what I find out.
