Change Active State of a F5 Device

Hi

managing a HA Pair of f5 devices with ver 11.5.1 what is the best method to Change the Active device to the Standby State and make the Standby as active. I will be accessing the devices over the Internet on the Public IP address?

it is up to you and perhaps not possible to prevent but i wouldn't want that. management via a not public accessable network is the way to go in my opinion.

  • Hi navin,

Login to the active system using https access. Just go to the System >> Configurations

Drag it the page till end and click 'standby'. The system immediately becomes standby mode and your redundant device becomes active (assume both are in perfect sync state).

Another suggestion is , move your management connectivity to an internal lan. It is highly recommend that management should be restricted and should not allow it from internet because bad guys can bring your network down.

    Regards, Jinshu

most likely some. sessions will failover. depending on your settings and tmos version you might synchronize some session state but even then it might not be taken over 100%. a well built application won't care too much about that though.

  • Is there any outage during switching from standby to active ?
