cache control for HTTP 1.1

Hi there, I just like to ask about HTTP 1.1 standard for cache control.

 

We have a F5 service publish over http and we would like to use api to reach this service. In the service I try to implement cache control using the default web accelerator profile to the VIP. The requirement was just the age needs to be 3600 which is already inside the profile.

 

Somehow it doesn't seem to cache the content on F5 and it still keeps going back to the back-end node. This is our first time implementing cache control. Am I missing on something ?

    I wrote this post for caching in 10.x code version on F5. It is largely valid for 11.x. I am not sure how good it is for 12.x. See if it helps you to answer questions. I would check to see if there is a relevant cache on the F5 using the show commands.
