Buying Used F5 suggestion
Most second hand F5's are usually approaching EOL. This means you will not be able to get updated software or support for them. If however you do get a recent one then you need a support contract with F5 for the product to get software updates or to contact them for support. Their may be a true-up amount you need to pay since you were not the original owner. I would suggest you get in touch with F5 support prior to purchasing and ask them. You must make sure it comes pre-licensed or its worthless. Also check with F5 support if the license can be transferred to your ownership.
Inside your /config/bigip.license file will be a Service Check date. You will not be able to install software released after that date without refreshing your license and you cannot do that without a support agreement.
