browser prmpts for certificate

My browser prompts twice for the certificate when connecting to a Virtual Server. When I select the appropriate certificate, IE gives me a fresh screen with the recommendation not to continue, I select connect anyway, and then am prompted once more to select my cert. I have a clilent ssl profile that is set to require and server ssl profile set to ignore. Any ideas on why this behavior happens?
