    Yes, there is a bug where discovery will fail if the iRule is attached to a virtual server. This bug is fixed in the forthcoming 5.0 release.

     

    You can schedule a backup in BIG-IQ Device, after the device is discovered in BIG-IQ.

In the ADC module, you can attach iRules. Open the virtual server, open the resources area, associate the iRule. You could give that a shot. Yes, you will need to discover into each of the modules separately. There are improvements coming in this area in the 5.0 version.
