Big-IP LTM VE 11.2 Compatibility with ESXi 5.1
We are in the process of upgrading to ESXi 5.1 and I am concerned that the F5 LTM VE 11.2 will have issues.
We just purchased 2 copies of Big-IP LTM VE 11.2 to run in an HA mode but the F5 support matrix doesn't list the ESXi 5.1 hypervisor at all so I don't know if it will be compatible.
Is anyone running in the configuration or know if or when this will be supported?

I believe it is supported but it's just listed as vSphere rather than ESXi. - AICadmin_2415

Do you know where this is stated at on the F5 website? I'm afraid that we will make the upgrade and then be without support from F5 since it could be an unsupported environment. - AICadmin_2415

That's my belief only. To be 100% sure, I'd suggest you contact F5 support. Please post back if you do. - AICadmin_2415

Is anyone running in this configuration? I am working to get a lab ESXi 5.1 environment up and running to try this configuration myself but this probably won't happen for about 2 weeks. Hopefully I can get a confirmation in that time.
I contacted Tech Support and this was the response I received:
Hello xxxx,
My name is Nathan xxxx and I have been assigned to your case. The best I have been able to find regarding supported versions of ESXi is the following:
https://support.f5.com/kb/en-us/products/big-ip_ltm/manuals/product/ve-supportedhypervisormatrix-1-0-0.html
It will get updated as new versions are officially supported. Depending on the changes in the ESXi versions, 5.1 may work without any changes, but according to our documentation it is not yet officially supported. I was not able to find a timeline when it will be officially supported. You might try our sales department and see if they have an information that I otherwise do not have access to.
Please let me know if you have any further questions regarding this case and I will do my best to answer them. I hope you have a great day.
Best regards,
-Nathan - Yes internally we have lots and lots of VE on 5.1, and I've seen plenty of customer deployments on 5.1 now too.

Thank you for the reply Simon. I opened a support ticket and the engineer said that he did not think that 5.1 was officially supported since it was not listed in their compatability matrix. He referred me to Sales for a possibly support date. If you have had good success then I will go with that. Thank you! - dkraut_23236

Any update to this thread? I'm in the same boat except that I'm using LTM VE 11.1. I could not find anything stating that LTM VE was officially supported on ESXi 5.1? - Paul_Pindell
