BIG-IP DNS (GTM)
Hi Guys,
This seems like a simple request be haven't been able to find any info.
I have two DC's DC A and DC B
I want my BIG IP DNS to provide answers to DNS server requests for abc.xyz.com. This bit is fine. What i want though is for DC A to only be used until it fails, then i want DC B to take over, I have health monitors configured to see the availability of each DC.
Basically what I am after is an Active/Passive setup with which automatically fails to the other member when the health monitor fails.
Any help on how this should be setup?
Thanks
Neil

Hi Neil,
You can achieve an active/standby set up by using Global Availability as the load balancing method:
BIG-IP GTM distributes DNS name resolution requests to the first available virtual server in a pool. BIG-IP GTM starts at the top of a manually configured list of virtual servers and sends requests to the first available virtual server in the list. Only when the virtual server becomes unavailable does BIG-IP GTM send requests to the next virtual server in the list. Over time, the first virtual server in the list receives the most requests and the last virtual server in the list receives the least requests.
