we had the same issues on our 8950s, it was due to a VERY LARGE configuration see bug The GUI unresponsiveness is a symptom of 'ID410285 - tmsh consumes lots of cpu when saving large configurations'. This is fixed in v11.5.0. i upgraded to 11.5.1 hf2 and it fixed it. 35 sec savw time to 8 seconds and hot fix 3 is our! good luck

He probably can't update it to that version though unless he has the one with bigger RAM. Some 1500s are a bit too weak. :( /Patrik
