Automation question regarding tracking LTM config information

We have an application guy using Tableu to transform a spreadsheet I have of all out LTMs, VIPSs, Pools, and members on to a nice searchable dashboard. But I wonder if there is an API or tool that he could utilize to make the data come directly from the LTMs so that it would be more dynamic and less prone to error. Does anyone have experience with that or could point me to the right white paper on this sort of automation subject?
