Are multiple irules required for multiple monitors for the same resource or service?
Hi,
I saw the following in the documentation and I have a question with regards to it. Is it required to create one irule per monitor or are some monitors implicit and by default applied without the need to explicitly define a corresponding irule for them?
The excerpt is:
"Network resources often perform different functions at the same time. Therefore, it is likely that multiple monitors are checking the availability of a single resource in different ways. Example: A BIG-IP system may monitor a single resource to verify that the connection to the resource is available, that a specific HTML page on the resource can be reached, and that a database query returns an expected result."
So with regards to example does one have to explicity create one rule per monitor or are some of the monitors implicit and no need for the creation of corresponding irule?
thanks

Hello, so far we don't play with irule on monitoring purpose (meaning there is no irule applied on monitors). What the documentation is referring to maybe the ability to combine multiple monitors to check the availability of you service. thus you can for example test the front end you are load balancing to and some back end delivering content to the front end.
