APM SSL VPN portal access link issue...

We have an APM SSL VPN deployed that presents a webtop with portal access links displayed for our users. One specific portal access link points to a brand new enterprise application and we are testing accessing this new application via APM. We are encountering an issue where the application presents a link to the user that when clicked is making a call to the Internet and this new page fails to load. When accessing the application from our internal network, it work fine. Is this a limitation of the SSL VPN that the the application cannot "call" an external site for information. Thanks.
