Access Issue

I want to manage the LTM from the extrenal VLAN not from the management vlan (management port). There is a non-floating IP (10.10.10.10:443). I was made to configure a VIP with the same IP and port, as a result i can not grant access to the BIGIP. Do i have to change the self ip or the vip?
