40GB QSFP+ Bundles on VIPRION 2250
Hi,
I am in the process of upgrading from B2100's to B2250's. I have purchased DAC QSFP+ breakout cables from a third party since F5 does not sell 5M cables (the length that I need). They have built-in Cisco branded optics which is what we have always used on our VIPRION blades.
The goal is 40Gbps on the BIG-IP (QSFP+) side, and 4 10GB interfaces on the switch side. Because of this, bundling needs to be disabled. The problem is that the bundles (2.1-2.4) are stuck in an INIT state, and the individual 10GB interfaces (1.1-1.4) are showing DOWN as a result.
The BIG-IP detects the optics as Cisco and shows that transceivers are installed properly. The switch side (Nexus 7K) shows 'notconnect' on the link. Engineering is now telling me that they won't even look at the problem due to me not using F5 branded QSFP+ optics on the BIG-IP side, but I really do not think this is the problem since we use these optics on all of our other VIPRION blades with no issues (and the BIG-IP detects them properly).
Does anyone have any experience here? Am I really forced to buying new cables (non DAC, without built-in optics as described above) AND F5 40GB QSFP+ modules just to test this?
Thanks.

Even if you got it to work both your engineering department and f5 won't support it due to non-f5 optics. F5 only provides support for optical breakout cables attached to F5 optics. Please see SOL15045: QSFP+ breakout cable options for details.
