255.255.255.255 is enabled by default in sticky sourceaddr??

Just a curiosity. If Subnet Mask is not enabled for sticky source-ip (which seems to be the default case!!!), how would source stickiness work?

For example, in this case without subnet mask, a client with 199.199.199.198 would have a different sticky entriy in LTM compared to 199.199.199.199? I tested and it loooks to be the case...

So whats the point of not having 255.255.255.255 netmask enabled by default in sticky sourceaddr default profile?????

Thanks in advance for your answer.

  • Hi,

netmask 255.255.255.255 is the default ;-)

Check the help page for source address affinitiy on mask: Specifies the mask that the system uses before matching with an existing persistence entry. The default is None.

None: Specifies that the system does not use a mask.

Specify: Specifies a mask. The default is 255.255.255.255.

I think the term "does not use a mask" just refers to how tmm behaves when taking care of such a request.
