Recently I saw a F5 LTM setup with fast L4 type virtual servers. I understand that the FastL4 profile uses ePVA ASIC for the Fast L4 profile. The current setup was newly build on F5 VE edition hence the eOVA won't be there. Does is recommended to configure the FastL4 profile VIPs in F5 VE editions?
FastL4 is a specific profile which goal is to enhance performance in L4 connections and it has many features to get that goal. One of them is to offload traffic processing to a HW acceleration chip.
If you don't have this ePVA chip in your device, those tasks will be performed by software.
