EmployeeGood point. Who is (or becomes) the authoritative source for where things are. As complicated as IDM and determining authoritative sources and who/what is authorized to change.
But I think you're right, between IPv6 and dynamic environments, DNS management is going to change and become a more critical component of a smoothly operating data center.
