F5 Distributed Cloud L7 DoS Attack Mitigation Roundup

F5 Distributed Cloud provides robust Layer 7 (L7) DoS attack mitigation to ensure application availability for services delivered via Regional Edges (RE). Attacks are blocked at the regional edge and global backbone, preventing impact on bandwidth-limited networks and vulnerable downstream services. New capabilities include configurable Requests Per Second (RPS) thresholds that trigger L7 DDoS protection when exceeded, along with alternate mitigation actions such as JavaScript or CAPTCHA challenges to enhance security. Combined, these features allow flexible protection—either blocking malicious traffic immediately or prompting challenges for clients. Custom service policies can also be applied during attacks, enabling selective access for trusted users while broadly mitigating unverified traffic.
