Aug 28, 2008X-Forward-For in a http profile
I have a custom http profile as per below for inserting X-Forward-For, after doing so should I be able to see the X-forward-for in fiddler using ie, or http live headers in mozilla?
I am trying to test to see if I can test the new profile.
Thanks
Enabling the Insert XForwarded For option in the HTTP profile
Note: The BIG-IP Configuration utility specifies the option as Insert XForwarded For.
To configure the BIG-IP system to insert the original client IP address in an X-Forwarded-For HTTP header, perform the following procedure:
Log in to the BIG-IP Configuration utility.
Click Local Traffic.
Click Profiles.
Click HTTP from the Services drop-down menu.
Click the Create button.
Type a name for the HTTP profile.
Select the check box next to Insert XForwarded For.
A drop-down menu appears.
Select Enabled from the drop-down menu.
Click Finished.
You must now associate the new HTTP profile with the virtual server.

It's not going to show up on the client side of the transaction, you'll need to be sniffing on the server side to see it. - joecampos80_451

Of course you still need to modify the correct config file on your respective web server. For example, you need to put the proper line in the httpd.conf if you are running IBM IHS (apache) and an isapi filter for IIS. etc.etc.. These mods will allow your server side logging to reflect the true address.
